Mr. Braddock was born in Forsyth County on October 10, 1941, to William Allen and Evie Westmoreland Braddock. He moved to Catawba County in 1967 where he resided until his death.
Mr. Braddock was proceeded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 55 years Barbara Mildred Boggs Braddock; daughter Betsy Elizabeth; brother Terry Braddock; and sister Ruby Ann Osborne.
He is survived by his daughters, Ann Braddock and Stephanie Hendrix (Larry) both of Hickory; brother George Braddock of Whispering Pines; and sister Patsy Poston of Monroe. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren (Jessica, Will, Jamie, Alexandria, Brooke, Andrea, Summer, Katelyn and Abigail) along with 10 great grandchildren (Christian, Mackenzie, Addison, Brody, Brielle, Rory, Ryder, Millie, Charlotte and a great granddaughter due in March of ‘24.
Mr. Braddock had a 22-year career as a Deputy Sheriff for the Catawba County Sheriff’s Department where he served as a bailiff in the courts until his retirement in 1998. Mr. Braddock served 11 years as a volunteer firefighter for the St. Stephens Volunteer Fire Department. He was an assistant Boy Scout Leader as well as coached softball with St. Stephens Optimist.
Mr. Braddock’s favorite things aside from his family were fishing, friends, playing cards and trains. His favorite was fishing from his boat, the dock, debating with his wife which one of them had the best “honey” hole (it was her for sure) and the many tournaments off ocean piers. He was never far away from a rod in hand ready to catch the “Big One Jake”.
A graveside service will be held on October 28th at 1:00pm at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 168 Lookout Dam Road, Statesville, NC 28625 with Reverend Michael Jenkins officiating.
