Mrs. Violet Marie Brown

HICKORY – Violet Marie Brown, 85 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on His birthday, December 25, 2024.

Born on June 3, 1939 in Alexander County, she was the daughter of the late Kermit Hines and Katherine Marie Norton Stout. Violet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church for over 40 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Worth Brown; granddaughter, Misty Brown; and siblings, Margie White, Ben Hines, Lillian Pennell, Rick Stout, and Steve Stout.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Vickie Greene and husband Donald, Tammy Bumgarner and husband David, Angie McGinnis and husband Ray; grandchildren, Corey Brown (Ariel), Lauren Reinhardt (Charlie), Zachary Bumgarner (Stephanie), Jordan McGinnis, Hannah Teague (Brian); great-grandchildren, Ava Bumgarner, Henry Reinhardt, John Bumgarner, Allie Bumgarner, Jones Teague, Mack Reinhardt and arriving soon, Selah Brown; a loving sister, Kathy Icenhour (Clifford); best friend, Jackie Tevepaugh (Howard), numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at 3 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Dr. Ed Yount officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 PM -3 PM at the funeral home.

Burial will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 2 PM at Catawba Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church of Conover or Samaritan’s Purse in Boone.
