Mr. Steven "Mark" Locklear

Mark was born May 13, 1963 in Catawba Co. to C.J and the late Judy Whitener Locklear. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Ruby Kate and Worth Whitener, Paternal grandfather Willie H. Locklear and a uncle, Ronald Whitener.

He was a retired Fireman after 23 years of service with Propst Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department. He also loved fishing, hunting, and camping. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Lynette Houston Locklear of Hickory, son, Nolan Locklear of Hickory, Father, C.J Locklear of Hickory, father in-law, Vernon Houston and wife Jessie of Hickory, aunt, Margaret Miller and husband Glenn of Hickory, aunt, Peggy Whitener of Hickory, aunt, Elizabeth Elliot and husband David of Bridgeport Al., uncle, Jack Whitener and wife Kay of Hickory, aunt, Ruth Whitener of Taylorsville, brother in-law, Kevin Houston and wife Andrea of Hickory, sister in-law Jeanette Lidey of Vale, nieces and nephews, Kelsey Lidey, Colton Lidey, Matthew Houston, Mindy Houston, Jordan Houston, and, Grace Houston, cousins, Kristy Saunders, Todd Willis, Lori Dalton, Patti McIntyre, Shelly Trogden, Katie Lowman, Maranda Stevens, and, Kellie Wallace, special friends, Daniel, Mandy, and Emmery Weaver of Hickory, and Jimmy Allman of Vale.

The family will receive friends Wednesday January 12th from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM at Providence Baptist Church.

At other times the family will be at the home of Lynette H. Locklear.

Services will be Wednesday January 12th at 3:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church, with Reverend Chuck Hensley and Reverend Ernest Richards officiating. Pallbearers will be, Kevin Houston, Glenn Miller, Daniel Weaver, Tracy Scronce, Michael Weaver, Randy Huffman, Steve Wise, and Jimmy Buchanan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Propst Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
