Shirley Ann Wilson , 79, of Hickory, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at her residence surrounded with love after God extended her life 2 years following a diagnosis of a chronic lingering illness. Born April 12, 1945 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Propst and Sarah Jane Shade Propst.
She was a graduate of Central High School class of 1963. She was a loyal and dedicated, self-employed nanny and housekeeper for 36 years to the late Dr. George (Frances) Ennis and family. Throughout her years of employment, she also serviced the households of Dean Proctor, David (Elizabeth) James and Joel (Martha) Reece of Catawba County. A lifelong active member of Rhoney’s Chapel AME Zion Church, Newton, NC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Jeremy "Blake" Frederick, great grandson, Zurich L.L. Dixon, brothers, John B. Propst, Ricky Tommy Jr. Propst, and Frank William Propst, sisters, Mary Jane Graham, Kathleen McKinnon, Barbara Nell Brown, Beannie Esther Dean, and Rosa Lee Henderson, nieces, Angela Nicole Propst, Diane Propst, Kimsha Lynnette Propst, Sandra Denise Propst, and nephews, Benny McKinnon, Danny Propst.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sarah Lynne Wilson; son, Charles Wilson, Jr.; sister, Nancy Gertrude Williams; grandchildren, Kelly Lott, Natasha Lynn Wilson, Shannon Lott, Charles Alexander Wilson (Allison Setzer), Joshua B. Fredrick, Charles Christopher (Whitney) Wilson, Alicia Vaught, Jordan Daniel (Chardane) Wilson, Brittany Jade (Lamar) Dixon, Alan Jamison Wilson, Gloria Grace Wilson, great grandchildren, Abdul Bah, Kayln E. Wilson, N’Shay D. Mayfield, Cornel Lott, Aliyah L. Wilson, Brison Lott, Hannah B. Dixon, Elijah M. Wilson, Carmela A. Wilson, Mia L. Wilson, Mariah L. Wilson, Lincoln L. Dixon, Londyn M. Wilson, Yelynn A. Ikard, and previous husband Charles E. Wilson, Sr., and a host of nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.

thank Sharon Wilson, aunt Nancy and Marshall Pratt for their loving and caring support of our mother.
Services for Shirley will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home, 940 29th Avenue, NE, Hickory, NC 28601, with the Rev. Dr. David R. Baker and Rev. Emanuel Bonaparte officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
The family request no repass but gift cards are welcomed in order for the family to have a meal later.
