Born February 29, 1936, in Forsyth County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Lee McKinley Rash and Leona Rupard Rash. She worked as a bookkeeper, spending many years with McGladrey and Pullen, LLP. Before retiring, she joined her husband at Lindsay Hosiery Mill to assist in the operation of the family business.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Joe Lindsay. She married “Sweet William” in 1957 and began to fulfill her calling of devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother. She adored, protected and championed her family with a loving fierceness. She never met a stranger, had a quick wit, kept a welcoming home, and treated all guests as family.
Ruth had a deep and abiding faith in her loving God. Her love for spiritual fellowship was evident despite her declining health.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings; James Rash, Ralph Rash, Harold Rash, Alma Rash, Flora Hemric and Rachel McNair.
She is survived by three daughters: Sharon Macaluso and husband, Gary, Cheryl Hunsberger and husband, Karl, and Tara Pannell; six grandchildren, Lindsay Hopkins and husband, Corey, Addison Macaluso and wife, Kagan, Gunnar Hunsberger and wife, Maddie, Kinley Hunsberger, Aaron Pannell, and Makayla Pannell; and three great-granddaughters, Remi and Rosie Hunsberger, and Jade Hopkins.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 1 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Greg Swenson and Jared Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 PM -1 PM at the funeral home.
