Robert “Bob” Walter Ramsey III, born October 25, 1946, in Asheville, went to his eternal home on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Trinity Village in Hickory. He was the son of Helen Styles Ramsey, and the late Robert W. Ramsey, Jr. of Hickory.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cheryl Y. Ramsey of Bethlehem; son, Scott W. Ramsey and wife, Andrea of Claremont; granddaughter, London of Claremont; step-daughter, Elissa Kincaid and husband, Tommy of Hickory, granddaughters, Rhiannon Manzi of Hickory and Holly Manzi of Hickory, numerous cousins, and many lifelong friends that he called family.
Bob was an active member of Viewmont Baptist Church in Hickory where he served as a Deacon. He was a 1964 graduate of Hickory High School, and Amarillo College in Amarillo, TX. He served in the US Air Force and was stationed in Alaska. Bob worked at General Electric as a draftsman in Hickory until he retired. He also served as a part-time instructor at Catawba Valley Community College. Bob served as a Past Master for the Conover Masonic Lodge 0709. He enjoyed life, loved his family and the Lord. Bob enjoyed reading, traveling, nature, the arts, and being with his friends and family.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Trinity Village for the loving care and support provided, allowing Bob to endure his battle with Alzheimer’s with dignity and grace.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, May 24 at 11 a.m., at Viewmont Baptist Church in Hickory. Family visitation will be held prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
