She was born September 12, 1953 in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of Ronald Moore and Antoinette (Nettie) Miller Moore.
Rhonda graduated from Mayville Central School in 1971. She later graduated magna cum laude from SUNY Fredonia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and was inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.
She moved to North Carolina 20 years ago and worked for Catawba Valley Behavioral Healthcare in Hickory, NC as a Mental Health Supervisor, and had just retired this year.
Rhonda was an avid reader and a serious genealogist. She made two trips to Poland to research her ancestry.
Her greatest achievement and the most important thing in her life were her six wonderful children. She had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help whomever needed her. She was really loved by all.
Rhonda is survived by her parents; step-mother, Denise Moore; two sisters, Ginger and Sherri Moore; two brothers, John (Debbie) and Richard Moore; three sons, William (Ashley), Boyd (Ashley), and Brandon Means; two daughters, Bridget Means and Brynn Means (Aaron) Moir; nine grandchildren, Emily (Nick) and William Means, Isabella Jeziorski, Brett Means, Roman Connelli, Kyle Moir, Eva Moir, Riley Lindstrom, and Peyton Grooms; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. She is also survived by her partner, Will Morgan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Means, a son, Benjamin Means, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
The family will be receiving friends at Catawba Funeral Home in Hickory, NC on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 1 to 4PM. A separate memorial service will be held in Mayville, NY at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the American Cancer Society, or any SPCA.
