Norma Sue Johnson

Hickory – Norma Sue Bumgarner Johnson, 80 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Carolina Caring of Newton.

Born on June 19, 1943 in Catawba County, NC, Sue was the daughter of the late Merlin and Ola Killian Bumgarner. Sue was an active member at Highland Baptist Church and sang with the Joy Makers for many years. She was loved by her family and will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by, her husband of 17 years, Billy Ray Johnson; a brother, Wayne Bumgarner and sister, Sandy Bumgarner.

Those left to cherish her memory include, a sister, Linda Sigmon; son, Scott Johnson and wife, Candace; daughter, Lisa McCaslin and husband, Roger; grandchildren, Jordan Johnson and wife Rebecca, Amanda McCloy and husband Stephen, Katie Logan and husband Brewer, Emma Johnson, Brittany Huffman and husband Nick, Chesney McCaslin, and 9 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023 at Highland Baptist Church in Hickory at 2:00 pm officiated by Pastor Kenny Robison.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1:00 pm in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Baptist Church in Sue’s name.
