Mr. Mitchell Samuel Hilton

Mitchell was born on January 8th 1928 in Mecklenburg County to the late Hugh and Nelia Hilton Smith. He was married to Voncille Klutz Hilton. He was a US Navy veteran. He was a loving husband for 61 years, and was also a loving father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Faye Hilton.

Mitchell was a member of Highland Baptist Church and retired as a foreman from Stewart Construction Company.

Survivors in addition to his wife Voncille Klutz Hilton of the home, two daughters; Barbara Hilton of Mountain View, Brenda Bailey and husband Bill of Bethlehem, a son Ted Hilton and wife Rita of Commerce, GA, a grandson; Mitch Bailey of Bethlehem, three granddaughters; Natasha Arnette and Stacy Truitt both of Bethlehem, Karen Fussell of Knightdale, NC and seven great- grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 12th at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Hickory Funeral Home with the Reverend Eric Cook officiating.

Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. Military Honors will be conducted by the North Carolina National Guard.

The family will receive friends on Thursday August 12th 2010 from 9:45 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at Hickory Funeral Home
