Mary Lou Canipe

Mary Lou Harrison Canipe, 90 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 14th, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born on October 10th, 1934, in Rutherford County, NC, Mary was the daughter of the late Sebastian C. and Ida McFarland Harrison. Mary loved her children and grandchildren. They were her greatest treasure. She also enjoyed growing flowers in her garden. She was loved by her family and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Ernest Canipe and her siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her children, Barbara Schmaeling and husband Michael, Patty Kyles and husband David, and Alan Canipe and wife, Anchalee; her grandchildren, Chris and wife Kelly, Tracy and husband Trank, Amber, Dustin, Ryan, Ethan and Tristan; her great grandchildren, Alyssa and husband Josh, Luke, Logan, Carter, Jubilee and Samantha.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on October 19, 2024, at 2 pm with Pastor Terri Landers officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 pm
