HICKORY –Marcus Lewis Tucker, 87, of Hickory, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at his residence. Born on October 22, 1930 in Catawba County he was the son of the late Henry Polk and Mary Elizabeth Wakefield Tucker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Marcella Marshall Tucker; 2nd wife Jennie Reece Tucker; sisters Mavis Tucker, Ellarea Chamberlain, Rachel Tucker, Mary Sue Eckard, and infant sister Nancy Carolyn Tucker and brothers Myron Tucker, Sr., Richard Tucker, Lee Tucker and G. W. Tucker. Lewis was a Navy veteran, he was retired after 30 plus years as a truck driver from Roadway Express. Surviving are his daughter, Revonda T. Cassavaugh and husband Wayne of Lenoir; a son Mark Tucker and wife Gale of Vale; grandchildren Misty Tucker of Hickory, Rebecca Tucker of Hickory, Joshua Walters of Sevierville, TN, Jay Cassavaugh of Lenoir and Alex Cassavaugh of Lenoir; great grandchildren Kaneyon, Dillon, Devin, and Ava; step-children Pam Eller and husband Phil, Lisa Reece, and Jeff Reece all of Granite Falls; step-grandchildren Nathan, Adam, Abby and Ryan and loyal companions Suzie and Baby. Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 2:45 pm at Hickory Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Friday, February 2, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tom McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Oxford Baptist Church Cemetery.
