Lynne Candyce Haddow

Lynne Candyce Niemiec Haddow, 69, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at her residence. Born December 22, 1953 in Staten Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. Niemiec and Doris Lillian Zigenfus Niemiec.

Lynne grew up in El Paso, TX and graduated with Honors from UTEP. A lifelong supporter of the University of Texas, Lynne attended UT Austin Journalism School before moving to Los Angeles to work with the US Olympic Committee.

Lynne retired in 2013 as the Vice President and GM of Fox International Channels. She helped launch and manage daily operations for the channel that brought NFL, MLB, NHL PGA, NASCAR and collegiate programming to Northern Africa and the Middle East. She began her career as an Assistant Sports Information Director at the University of Texas managing press and game day operations for numerous Southwest Conference and NCAA events. A highlight of her career was her time as a media planner for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. She wrote operating plans used to train 20,000 volunteers and press operations for numerous venues. She was the Co-Managing editor for the Olympic Final Report, overseeing collection of all data regarding the operation of the 1984 games and edited copy used for the final report. For many years Lynne worked with Liberty Media helping to roll out national sports cable service including the pioneering of Women’s Sports and Entertainment Network. Before becoming a part of Fox, Lynne worked as General Manager of Prime Network/HSE and Sunshine Network managing acquisitions, scheduling, media relations and promotions. Lynne also designed launch operations for four new regional and national sports channels. Before moving to Fox International Channels she worked as the Director of Collegiate Relations and Scheduling for Fox, managing contracts with the Big 12, PAC-10 and Conference USA television that encompassed football, men’s basketball and more than 100 women’s and championship events. Throughout her career Lynne worked tirelessly to advocate for and promote women’s participation in all levels of sports, business and the media.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 32 years, Mark Allan Haddow; daughter, Ryanne E. Haddow; daughter-in-law, Emee Herbert and father and mother-in-law, John A. and Peggy J. Haddow of Hickory.

A gathering of friends and family to celebrate her life will be held at the residence on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 12:00 pm.
