He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy Pittman Lail, a daughter: Gretchen LeBrun and husband, Stephen of the home, son: Jefferson Lail and wife, Glenda, two grandsons: Jefferson Lail, Jr. and Tyler Lail of Hickory.
He was employed by Glidden Paint Co. as Employee Supervisor for forty years where he was nicknamed “The Glidden Godfather.” He was loved and respected by everyone who worked with him, as well as all who knew him.
After graduation from St. Stephens High School, he attended Lenoir Rhyne College before being drafted into the U. S. Army as a paratroooper and Military Policeman, serving two years in Vietnam. He was devoted to his family, and a wonderful Husband and Father. He loved world travel, touring many countries and islands, gardening, and mountain climbing.
A dedication of his life “For God and Country” will be held in the Hickory Funeral Home Chapel Thursday at 3:00 P.M . The family will receive Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home. Friends will be asked to mingle instead of standing in line. The American Legion Post #48 will perform military honors in the Garden at Hickory Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.
