Jerry Doyle Young

Jerry Doyle Young 46, of Hildebran passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013 from a lingering illness. He was born October 9, 1967 in Catawba County to Jarol Young and Teena Young. He was currently employed as a customer service representative at Convergys Corporation. He previously owned and managed Young’s Landscaping with his father and grandfather. Jerry attended East Burke High School where he managed teams and played various sports. He was also active in student body government eventually serving as student body president. He attended Catawba Valley Community College for 2 years and served there as student body president. History, politics, reading, golf, his dogs and cats were his pastimes. He was also still activity involved with East Burke alumni groups. He is survived by his father Jarol Young and special friend Cathy Ray; his mother Teena Harris and husband Troy of Conway, SC; a brother Kevin Young and wife Susan; a nephew Jonathon and nieces Lauren and Emma, all of Greensboro; an aunt Jean Cooper; cousins Mike and Sandy of Hildebran; an aunt Shirley and husband Ted Hinson; an uncle Larry Melton and cousins Doug and Amy all of Monroe. Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 2:00pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ernie Richards officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 1:00pm to 1:45pm.
