She was born on August 25, 1934 to the late Charles Lawter and Audrey Lawter in Catawba County. Jean was a lifetime member of Highland Baptist Church. She was very involved in the Salvation Doll Ministry at the church.
Along with her parents, her husband Ira Clay Church; sister, Louise Glover, and brother; Charles Lawter preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, David Church and wife Kathy of Mount Holly, Steve Church of Hickory, Michael Lafone and wife Judy of Statesville; grandchildren, Tameron Church, Valerie Church, Arron Church, Tyler Church, Adrienne Long, Travis Lafone; 10 great grandchildren, and sister, Ann Daughtery.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. at the church. Dr. Jeff Myers will officiate the service.
