Hickory – Freddie Harrison Sigmon, 84 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Frye Regional Medical Center surrounded by family and friends.
Born on February 22, 1938 in Catawba County, NC, Freddie was the son of the late “H. H.” Herbert Harrison Sigmon and Grace Naomi Deal Sigmon Whittington. One of Freddie’s greatest passions was customizing and restoring classic cars. He retired from H&W Body Works, and people continued to come from all areas to request his creative expertise and craftsmanship even after his retirement. He was also an avid outdoorsman who traveled throughout the US and Canada on hunting expeditions. Known for his countless one-liners and witty personality, he was always the life of the party. Freddie loved celebrating with his family and friends through lunch and dinner dates, cookouts, and family gatherings. He was greatly loved and is already dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Grace “Gracie” Seitz Whisnant Sigmon and a half-brother, Jerry Whittington.
Those left to cherish his memory include, 4 children, a daughter, Rene´ Sigmon and husband, Randy; a son, Allen Sigmon and wife, Aundrea; a daughter, Judy Sigmon Gibson and husband, Scott; and a daughter, Linda Michele Sigmon; 4 grandchildren, Lake and Courtney Gibson, children of Judy and Scott Gibson; Savannah and Sienna Sigmon, daughters of Allen and Aundrea Sigmon; 2 great grandchildren, Dansby and soon to arrive, Natalie.
Freddie is also survived by 3 siblings, Charles “Mickey” Sigmon, Wayne Sigmon, Sr. and Martha Manning, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 1pm with Pastor Dan Duke officiating. Freddie will be laid to rest beside of his wife, Gracie, at Catawba Memorial Park following the service.
