He was born on April 27, 1942 to the late Miles Bowman and Amanda Lutz Bowman in Catawba County. “Mr. Ed” had been enjoying his retirement after proudly working for the state of North Carolina for 30 years. He also honorably served in the United States Air Force and remained a proud veteran of his country. In life he loved farming, animals and anything that kept him outside. His favorite hobby included riding his Harley in the mountains. “Mr. Ed” was a longtime member of Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church. Above all, nothing compared to his love for the Lord, his wife and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Crystal Lloyd Cline; granddaughter, Daléna Cline; and brothers, Michael Bowman and Jerry Bowman.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Paula Lane Bowman and children: Pamela Blessings, Patricia “Trish” Karnes and husband Eric, Reggie Lloyd and Austin Lloyd; grandchildren: Jordan Ferrell and husband Jeremiah, Kathryn Williams and husband Michael, Kayleigh Lipscomb and husband Matt, Hannah Huffman, Victoria Blessings; great grandchildren: Jaxon and Jace Ferrell, Justin, Macy and Hayden Edward Williams, Oliver Lipscomb, Braelyn Lloyd, Olivia Phillips; great niece: Aria Icard; Godson: Jeremiah Berry; and sister: Maryann Westmoreland.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 until 12:30 p.m. at the church. Preacher Paul Deal, Preacher Dean Hart, Preacher Bo Caulder and Preacher Todd Good will officiate the service. Following the service, “Mr. Ed” will be driven by Bud Coffey to his final resting place in “Ole Blue”.
Serving as pallbearers will include Kevin Bowman, Shane Bowman, Jeremiah Ferrell, Rodney Cline, Jody Witherspoon and Jeff Witherspoon. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Brown, Bud Coffey, Larry Birchfield, Tracy Byrd and Johnny Stewart.
