Allen Gregory

Allen Chester Gregory, 57, of Hickory, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Allen was born September 20, 1958 to Lucille Berry Gregory and the late Landon (Junior) Gregory. Allen graduated from Fred T. Foard High School in 1976 and went on to earn his degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from CVCC. He was a faithful employee of Corning for 38 years. Having placed his faith in Christ at the age of 24, Allen was a godly man who loved Christ, the word of God and his church. He was a faithful, loving husband and a caring father who was so proud of his children. He enjoyed the mountains, the beach and driving his “83 Mercedes “Clementine”. Allen had a quick wit and enjoyed making others laugh as much as he loved to laugh himself. He enjoyed running with his buddies, Bill, Kevin and Eric. He loved watching “The Sandlot”, John Wayne movies, the Redskins and the Orioles. Allen was a “gentle giant” who will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a tremendous legacy of faith in Christ for his family and friends to follow.

Allen is survived by his wife of 28 years, Lynda; daughters, Shannon G. Dixon and husband Casey of Garner, NC, and Rachel Gregory of the home; son, Landon Gregory of the home; brothers, Wade Gregory and wife Kim of Hickory and Bruce Gregory and wife Jacqueline of Wentzville, MO; mother, Lucille B. Gregory of Hickory; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved dog, Bristol. He was preceded in death by his father, Landon.

A Celebration of Allen’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Harvest Bible Chapel of Hickory with Pastor Kurtis Massey officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
