Manuel “Manny” Alvarez of Hialeah, FL, a true hero and patriot, passed away on January 14th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Manny was born in Cuba and immigrated to the United States as a teenager with his family. He was a dedicated U.S. Marine, who served honorably in the Korean War from 1952-1953, was captured as a prisoner of war, and later raised 2 beautiful families.
Manny was also a very devoted husband and beloved father of 5 children. He owned a small family business (where his children also participated in the management of it). He later retired from his business due to health conditions.
Manny was a great man, husband, father, patriot, veteran, fighter for freedom and loyal friend. He was very dedicated to his country, his family and his community. He will be truly missed.
Manuel Alvarez is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Milagros Alvarez, his son Alberto Perdomo (daughter-in-law Kelly Boyle-Perdomo), his son Adalberto Perdomo and his daughter Melissa Alvarez.
Wake services are scheduled for Tuesday, January 24th, at 7:00pm at Caballero Rivero: 373 W. 9th Street, Hialeah, FL 33010 (at the corner of Red Road & Okeechobee Road). The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 10:00pm on Tuesday evening, and on Wednesday morning from 10am to 11:30am.
Burial services will follow at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, January 25th at Dade Memorial Park (aka: Dade North): 1301 Opa-Locka Blvd, Miami, FL 33167. Thanks again for your thoughts, prayers and support.
