Robert is survived by his wife, Charlotte Kay Stone (Page); his daughter, Robin Carter (Stone); 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Stone and Violet Newton; daughter, Babbett and his siblings.
Robert was born on May 13, 1936 in Montrose, CO to Violet & Rufus Stone. He went to school in western Colorado where he met and married Charlotte, his first love, on December 27, 1955.
After honorably serving in the Army, they moved back to Montrose, CO where he worked alongside his father in his carpentry shop. Over the years, the couple welcomed their two children into their home and set about teaching them their Christian values. His daughter remembers him as a loving father who taught them the importance of knowledge and kindness to others.
In the early 1960’s he felt the call of God on his life to minister to others. He began as a youth pastor in Montrose Assembly of God church and throughout their 65 years of marriage, he ministered to more than 10 congregations and built an Assembly of God church in Overton, NV.
In 1990, he moved to Henderson, NV to care for his mother where his family remains. Over the course of 20 years, he also taught everything from carpentry at trade schools, woodshop, driver’s education, elementary education and adult bible school.
For over 20 years, he also worked at a local Wedding Chapel, alongside his wife, performing wedding ceremonies.
Robert was accomplished at hunting, fishing and camping, often taking family hunting trips. His hunting skills supplied their family with the necessary winter meat. He raised and trained skilled bird dogs and throughout the years always loved having dogs around. He was an accomplished carpenter and enjoyed making toys for his grandchildren, many that the great-grandchildren still play with.
He was a dedicated minister and volunteered often in a variety of ways, at youth and children’s camps, hospital visitation, bible study and Christian counseling. Robert was an individual who loved the Holy Bible and was passionate about changing the world through education.
A visitation is scheduled for July 15, 2021 4:00-7:00pm at Palm Mortuary 800 S. Boulder Hwy, Henderson, NV. Interment service will take place at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Buchanan Blvd, Boulder City on July 16th 10:40 am. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Robert’s life.
