Jose Luis Rivera

Jose Luis Rivera, 64, of Henderson, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born as one of nine children, September 24, 1956 in Jiquilpan, Michoacan, Mexico to Luis Rivera and Eva Sanchez-Rivera, grandson to Jose & Gracia Sanchez. Jose came to Los Angeles, California as a young teen, but spent most of his adult life in Bullhead City, Arizona. He worked in the food service industry in Laughlin, Nevada; retiring to Henderson, Nevada in 2014.

Jose did not fear death, and cherished his dreams and visions of Heaven and those that passed on before him. He taught his family to love and appreciate their "visits''. Jose told his family not to cry for them, as it calls them away from what they were doing in Heaven. He was a believer in Jesus Christ and knew the Kingdom of God awaited his arrival. Jose looked forward to reuniting with his loved ones, and to await our eventual arrival.

Jose was preceded in death by his grandparents Jose & Gracia Sanchez; parents: Luis Rivera and Eva Sanchez-Rivera; three siblings: Tita, Teresa and Armando; and his late in-laws, John and Helen Schneider. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Theresa; and his very large family including his children: Tania (Vince), Dennis, Jose, Emily and others that were estranged; five siblings: Oscar (Lidia), Martha (Chili), Palona (Nicolas), Gloria (Renato), & Veronica (Arturo); many grandchildren; and great grandchildren. He was most influential in the lives of Ora, Robert, Shane, McKalia, and was loved by Alex, Meadow, Devan, Shawn and Johnny. Jose was also a brother to Debi, Cheryl (Glen), Mary, and Michele.

Jose will be laid to rest at Palm Cemetery in Henderson. Due to COVID and government restrictions, access is limited to family, and by invitation only. All guests in attendant will be required to wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to offset the cost of the burial and services.
