John Donald Spaulding, 87, passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2022. John was born in Sherwood, North Dakota on April 9, 1934, to John and Lorena Spaulding. John served in the United States Army and was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he met his wife, Carol. He married the love of his life, on November 17, 1956. He often told our family, "I knew the second I saw your mother, she would become my wife." They were married 56 years and together, raised six children. John began his career at the United States Postal Service in Dixon, Illinois. They relocated to Henderson, NV in 1973 where John continued his career with the postal service until he retired in 1992. John loved to play cards. He belonged to the Henderson Senior Center where he played pinochle for many years. He was an avid sports fan and would watch any type of sports, however, he had an affinity for soccer and horse racing. He loved having a "sweetie" at the end of each night, whether it be a bowl of ice cream, piece of pie, or a donut from the local donut shop, Friendly Donuts. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and his amazing knowledge of almost any fact. John was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, two sons, Larry, and John. He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda D. Lem, Joan L. Hammer (Jim) and Amy Updike (John); son, Marc A. Untiedt (Atha); brother, Ted Spaulding (Barbara); seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 12 from 10:00-12:00 followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm at Palm Mortuary- Henderson, 800 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson.
