In the song of life, Joey B. Giordano was surely the composer. A very observant man who would rather spend his time creating than talking, Joey preferred to live in a world of harmony where everything around him made sense. In fact, he depended on his sensory world to provide him with concrete data. A free spirit, Joey believed that actions definitely spoke for themselves. He seemed to know what fit and what didn’t fit in everything he did. Joey perceived that all of life’s possibilities were open to him, yet he lived with a definite sense of purpose. He was a man who was always ready to share his creations with those around him.
Joey was born on March 29, 1999 at St. Rose de Lima Hospital in Henderson, Nevada to his parents Michael and Sheryl Giordano. Raised in Henderson, Nevada; Joey was optimistic in his outlook. He sought out the possibilities in a given situation and looked for ways to apply his creative energies. Joey rarely called attention to himself; but, when he did speak out, his message was clearly understood by those around him.
Early on in his family relationships, Joey showed that he was a tolerant and flexible person, and he got along fairly well with everyone. He was raised with one sibling. He had older brother, Louie. He was a calm and playful child who was adaptable to any situation.
As he was growing up, Joey developed into a person who enjoyed physically doing things, and he took pleasure in using his hands in order to create. Whether it was drawing pictures, working with building kits, or even just tapping out a rhythm to play by, Joey liked concrete things. Growing up, Joey took part in baseball, football, and soccer. In his spare time he liked to build Legos with his brother, when younger, and gaming with his friends as he got older. Joey's memorable achievements included being part of the baseball, soccer, and football teams at Lake Mead Christian Academy. However, to Joey, the most fun he had was simply playing, and spending time with friends.
Early on in his school years, Joey showed an interest in learning, especially when it came to subjects in the arts. At times, school learning did not provide Joey with sufficient challenges, but being an avid reader, he could often be “lost in a book” well above his grade level. His passion for fine arts was so keen that fellow students and even his teachers recognized it. He graduated from Lake Mead Christian Academy in 2017. He enjoyed some courses more than others, having favorite classes and teachers. His favorite class in high school was English, and the teacher he enjoyed learning from the most was Mr. Combs. He participated in high school fair senior year with Sean F.
In college, Joey showed that he was able to focus on what was necessary. He found it quite easy to dive head-first into classes, especially those that truly interested him. Using his understanding of language, Joey was able to move comfortably through a wide variety of courses. He also demonstrated his artistic temperament and talent, even in classes that weren’t typically considered art courses. Joey’s ability to assemble highly creative projects became second nature to him. Joey was working on his Bachelor's Degree from University of Nevada, Las Vegas in Film Studies; his favorite courses were photography. Joey enjoyed being outside, traveling and spending time with friends taking pictures.
Those who didn’t know Joey well might not view him as being an outgoing person, those who called him their friend knew differently. Joey was shy and sensitive, a person who never forced his opinions and values on others. Close friends knew that his kindness was unmatched, and once you became a friend of Joey’s, you understood how true a friend he could be. While growing up, some of his best friends were Andrew, Noah, Spencer, Tyler, Brenden, Sean, Nick and Elias. Later in life, Joey stayed close with these friendships made with these guys from LMCA.
Joey found ways to enjoy what he did for a living. He worked hard and did his best to succeed every day. Joey was a full-time student and had a part-time job. He was employed for Dick's sporting goods in Henderson, Nevada. Joey tended to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done without imposing his will on others.
Joey enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were gaming, traveling and going to concerts with friends. Joey was content to enjoy his hobbies alone but was also willing to share his interests with others. He was relaxed in his approach to his leisure time because he wanted to savor the present moment.
Joey liked sports. In high school, Joey played baseball and football. Joey was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he got the opportunity. Tops on his list were baseball, football and golf.
Joey’s faith was important to him. Joey was baptized at Community Lutheran Church in Las Vegas. Joey was raised in the Christian faith and attended the Church at Lake Mead as well as Central Christian, both in Henderson. Joey's passionate commitment to upholding his values placed him at home in his religion, where he took comfort in the company of others who believed as he did.
Though he never set out to gain individual recognition, Joey was given accolades for his many and varied accomplishments throughout his life. He often undervalued his achievements and abilities and simply viewed his performance as fulfilling his responsibilities. Some of his most prestigious awards included achieving honor roll and high honor roll awards while at Lake Mead Christian Academy.
Because he loved the world around him, Joey enjoyed traveling and going away on vacations. It was an opportunity for him to kick back and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Joey put his personal trademark on any leisure planning that he undertook. Favorite vacations included trips to San Francisco, Chicago, Hawaii, Austria, Paris, London, New Orleans, the Caribbean, Alaska and family reunions in Wisconsin.
Joey was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of Joey’s favorites was Lucky, a yellow lab, and they were best friends for 14 years. His family was rounded out by his three other dogs: Roxie, Daisey and Denali.
Joey passed away on February 14, 2020 at Las Vegas, Nevada. Joey's death was unexpected. He is survived by His parents Michael and Sheryl and brother Louie. Services were held at Palm Mortuary in Henderson, Nevada. Joey was laid to rest in Henderson, Nevada at Palm Mortuary and Cemetery.
Joey was a good man, a kind man, and a practical man who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being warm and deeply caring. He leaves behind him a treasury of life-long friendships and wonderful memories. Joey always had much to give and was able to make those connections in his life where his gifts were appreciated. Joey was a faithful, practical and loving person. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Joey B. Giordano.
