Jaeleigh Kay Harris had just turned 24 three days before she left us on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022. She was born in Fountain Valley, California on November 21, 1998, to her parents Theresa Joy Jones and Jay Lee Harris. Jaeleigh was born a California girl just like her mom but spent pretty much her entire life in Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada since she was 5 months old. Jaeleigh was named after her dad, Jay Lee, and her great aunt, Linda “Kay” Sharp. She was the sweetest baby and the cutest little girl. Even at a very young age, she was so funny. She would say the most hilarious things that would just make everyone laugh.
When Jaeleigh was 5 ½ years old, she received the sweetest blessing, her little brother Jayden. She loved her brother so much. As with almost every set of siblings they didn’t always get along when they were growing up but as they got older, they became the best of friends. When they were together at most times, all you would hear was laughter. Aside from her brother, Jayden, her best friends were Alyssa, her cousin Kimberly and her boyfriend Matt.
When Jaeleigh was around 7 or 8 years old, she received a birthday present to take ballroom dance lessons from her aunt Danielle. She loved it so much that her parents ended up signing her up for more lessons. Jaeleigh performed in many dance recitals and won several trophies. She was an entertainer whether it was dancing, singing (or trying to sing) or just being funny and making everyone laugh. Jaeleigh played soccer and softball during her teenage years, and she really loved the art of tattooing. Once she received her first tattoo gun, you couldn’t stop her from tattooing herself, her dad, her brother and most of their friends. She got pretty good at it too and would have eventually become a professional tattoo artist.
Jaeleigh loved her family and animals, mostly dogs. She loved her many friends, and loved being around children; she babysat a lot for family and friends. Jaeleigh loved most music, but her favorite was Lana Del Rey. Much like Lana Del Rey, Jaeleigh was a free spirit, almost gypsy like.
When Jaeleigh became an adult, wherever she felt safe was where she would call home, whether it was at her moms, her dads, her friends (many of them at different times) or with other close family members like her cousin, Kimberly. Jaeleigh was always cheerful, funny, thoughtful, and the life of the party. She loved playing a good prank and had the best sense of humor. Jaeleigh was mischievous and will be remembered for her infectious smile and the twinkly in her eye. She lived so much life in her few short years, it was as though she knew she had no time to waste on anything that bored her.
Jaeleigh will be remembered for all these things and so many more. She is already so incredibly missed and will always be loved by everyone that ever knew her and was graced by her presence.
“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together.. there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we’re apart.. I’ll always be with you.”
Winnie the Pooh (A.A. Milne)
