Evan Armstrong, age 79, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021. He was born February 24, 1942 in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. Evan grew up in Brandon. In his younger years, he excelled in judo, track, and swimming. He enjoyed camping with his parents and spent many hours lifeguarding and helping people at the YMCA. Evan attended high school in Grand Forks, ND, and college in Minot, ND. He became a citizen of the United States, July 4, 1976.
Evan was married to Karen (Petrie) in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a dedicated and loving husband to his wife, Karen, and taught Special ED for 27 years in Clark County. Together they enjoyed traveling and entertaining friends. Evan also enjoyed water skiing and teaching his kids to play racquetball. He attended the Catholic Church in Henderson, Nevada. Along with being a loving husband, Evan was very proud of his children and of all his grandkids and great grand kids. Every conversation would end with, "I'm so proud of all of you."
Evan was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Aileen; son-in-law, Rob; and the mother of his children, Elaine. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Karen; sister, Gay (Bob) Penio; brothers, Al (Karin) Armstrong and Shayne (Dorothy) Armstrong; children, Sherrie (Kevin) Thompson, Tricia (Perry) Arent, Troy (Yvette) Armstrong and Sandra Robbins; grandchildren, Christopher (Korbi) Thompson, Amanda (Michael) Larson, Carissa Arent, Earnest (Nissel) Salinas, Elijah (Danielle) Armstrong, Aariel Armstrong, Austin Robbins, Chase Robbins and Jianna Robbins; great-grandchildren: Sydney Thompson and Eliana Larson; and many nieces and nephew.
A funeral mass for Evan will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2021 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.
