Charles served with the Utah National Guard 213th Artillery during the Korean War and was involved with the Battle of Kapyong. During this battle there were around 225 National Guardsmen that fought a 12 hour battle with 4000 Chinese troops. All 225 Guardsmen returned alive.
Charles met June Johnson, of Elsinore Utah, when he returned and they were married on August 17, 1952 in Fredonia, Arizona. The couple were sealed together in the St. George, Utah, Latter-Day Saint temple on March, 1954. He moved to Nevada and settled in Henderson. Charles went to work for Titanimun Metals as a leach tank operator for over 40 years.
Charles was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many positions. His favorite was as a Temple worker.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, 5 siblings, and 3 great grandsons. He is survived by his brother, Vard; sister, Laurelle; three sons: Doug (Jackie), Kevin (Sherri), and Brent (Monica); 10 Grand Children, and 7 Great grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the Burkholder Chapel located at 1002 Burkholder, Henderson Nevada. Viewing will be at 10am prior to the funeral services. Charles will be laid to rest privately at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
