Robert L. Clark died Sunday, July 12, 2020, at the age of 80 in Hemet, California. He was a patient, respected, and deeply loved dad, grandpa, papa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, and husband. Robert was an avid fan of baseball, cashew, homemade pie, and action thriller; a talented craftsman, and a wily poker player. He was always first in line to help family and friends with home improvement projects, repair jobs, (more than) a few dollars, and any other activity that kept his loved ones safe and happy. Robert’s advice was gold, his opinions reserved, his humor quick, and his words honest and kind.
Born the third of four children to his parents Wesley and Adeline (Billy) Clark on August 25, 1939 in Yakima, Washington. Robert Lee Clark was an honor society graduate of Yakima High School in 1957, and went on to become a pioneering computer science undergraduate at the University of Washington, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1962. He was a member of the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians, a nation from the central California coast.
Employed as a skilled software engineer for more than 35 years, Robert spent most of his career in San Diego, California working for Unisys and on projects for the US Navy. When not at work, he spent thousands of hours on sports fields as a coach for his sons Little League teams, and then as a tireless supporter of their high school football games and his granddaughters’ soccer teams. Coach Clark was loved and respected for his attentive analysis and thoughtful efforts to improve players’ performance. In later years, he attended the First Presbyterian Church of Hemet, volunteering his time for numerous charitable activities.
Robert is survived by his wife Darlene, sons Bob (Donna), Brad (Sandra), and Bryan (Tara) Clark; brothers Wesley Clark, Tom (Gwen) Clark and sister Carol Williams; his grandchildren Ashleigh, Caroline, Sara, Bryana, and Shannon Clark, Cheyenne (Brandon) Brown, Jeff (Taryn) Beeman, Holly Cittadino, Daniella (Thomas) Crawford, Tyra (Nicho) Swartley, Shannon (Adam) Miller, and Kaila (Brandon) Roth; stepdaughter Karla (Bill) Beeman; brother and sister-in-law Greg and Pam Sizemore; and eleven great- grandchildren
Robert has gone on to join his departed loved ones; wife Billie Sue (Sizemore) Clark, brother James ‘Red’ Crandell, brother-in-law Grant Williams, and his stepson Steve McDaniel.
