Patricia Ann Barnes, lovingly known as "Pat," passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on May 9, 1934, in Santa Barbara, CA, Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend to many.
Patricia graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1952 and went on to pursue her passion for nursing. She earned her Registered Nurse certification from Highland School of Nursing in 1956 and later achieved her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wheaton College in 1960.
Patricia was the beloved wife of Sam Barnes and the proud mother of Randy Barnes (Carol) and Lori Gillis (Bill). She adored her grandchildren, Andrew Gillis, Ryan Barnes, and Matthew Gillis, who brought her immense joy.
Throughout her life, Patricia wore many hats with grace and dedication. She began her career as a registered nurse. Later, she and her husband Sam owned and operated Salinas Valley Appliance and TV in Salinas, CA. She also poured her heart into creating a loving and nurturing home for her family. She was creative and always had a sewing, needlework, or knitting project in progress. Patricia's talents extended beyond her crafts; she was a gifted teacher who led Sunday school classes and served as a Bible Study Fellowship leader, leaving a profound impact on those she guided in their faith.
Patricia will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and unwavering faith. Her warmth and wisdom touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service to celebrate Patricia’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Salinas, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Patricia’s memory.
