She was born on March 25, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Jose and Juana Villanueva. Maria was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an adoring grandmother. She married the love of her life, Robert, or as she used to call him “Gordo”, on July 10, 1955 and was blessed with six loving children.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her nine siblings. She is survived by Robert, her beloved husband of 65 years; her six children and their spouses, Aurora (Johnny), Bobby (Justine), Sylvia (Steve), Cristina (Mark), Edgar (Beatriz), and Doreen (John); her seventeen grandchildren, Sam, Patricia, Michael, Becky, Tony, Kyle, Mark Jr., Amy, Matthew, Michelle, Bobby, Nicky, Gregory, Stephanie, Robert, Alexander, and Rusty; her eighteen great-grandchildren, including one who is due to be born in a few short weeks; and numerous cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors who love and miss her terribly.
As heartfelt tributes and condolences for her began pouring in - each of them captured the hallmark of her life - her love for her family. She derived so much joy and happiness by each new life that entered into our family. She greeted each baby, first her own, then her grandchildren and later each great-grandchild with the sweetest of lullabies, sung in Spanish, gently cradling each new child for as long as she could. You’ve never witnessed a purer love than when she would embrace a child, hold a baby, or hug her family. Those embraces were a gift to each of her family members - as they communicated a love that was unmatched by words. Her legacy of love continues on through all that knew and loved her.
The family has scheduled a private Rosary and Visitation scheduled for January 26, 2021 and a private Mass and Burial at the Riverside National Cemetery on January 27, 2021.
