Kenneth E. Martin of Sun City, California passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2012. Ken served in the US Marine Corps during WWII and Korea. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Medal with Battle Stars for Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat V and two Presidential Unit Citations. His rank was 2nd Lieutenant and was promoted to Captain while in the Marine Corps Retired Reserve. Ken was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 5868 and American Legion Post 222 both in Laguna Beach, California.
Ken and his wife Dorothy lived in Laguna Beach from 1955 until he retired from the Laguna Beach Municipal Water District in 1991. Ken was a Little League coach and worked several years for the Laguna Beach School District. He loved his grandchildren, fishing and golf.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Violet Martin; brother, James Martin and Sister Madelyn Sorrell.
Ken is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy L. (Simpson) Martin of the family home; three daughters, Janet Hutchinson of Wildomar, California; Nancy Buijnink of Lake Forest, California and Mary Serna and son-in-law, David of High Rolls, New Mexico; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
