James Houghton Kenyon AKA Jim was born in Auburn CA. on June 24 1937. He was raised by stepdad Robert White and mother Elizabeth Beyer White on a cattle ranch in Grass Valley CA. He passed away in Hemet CA on Saturday July 3, 2021.
Jim graduated from Nevada Union HS in 1955 with a great deal of help from several faculty members as he was needed for the basketball team due to his height. After graduation, he was given option, service or jail. He was, well, Jim. He chose Navy and became a SeeBee where he developed his aptitude for operating heavy equipment. After Navy he worked for City of LA as well a Dept Water &Power LA where he retired as a Superintendent after over 30 years of service.
Jim was a member of Elks Lodge Bishop CA, Masonic Lodge and PRCA. After retirement he worked as a truck driver, horse hauler, occasional judge in rodeo, as well as an all round trouble maker. When able he was an avid bowler as well as major fan of any things Rodeo. There were yearly trips to Grass Valley CA as well as Laughlin NV.
He was the biggest scariest most sarcastic man alive yet he allowed his granddaughters and later his great granddaughters to place bows, etc in his hair which has always been a flat top.
To mourn his passing will be his daughters Debbie Digby and Kathy Williams, six grandchildren, Terry, Maria, Nick, Jaime, Brandon, and Randall, as well as 7 great grandchildren, Bella, Ryan, Damon, Gwendolyn, Baron, Kaylee Mae and Ragan Kaye.
He was reunited with the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, Shirley, as well as his beloved son, Jimmy who called him home. Jim touched many lives either through his employment, his rodeo lifestyle, bowling and family. He will be truly missed by many. Good ride cowboy, good ride!!
