Diane Lynn Ackerman Chesler, born on May 14, 1951 passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, in White Plains, New York surrounded by her children. She was the beloved daughter of the late Max and Sylvia Ackerman and sister to the late Linda Ackerman. Her legacy continues through her devoted sons, David (Brooke) and Matt (Sharon), and her five treasured grandchildren: Hayden, Oliver, Phoebe, Elliot, and Nathan.
Diane spent her formative years in the Bronx and pursued her education at the City College of New York, initially aspiring to become a teacher. However, her career path led her to Consumer Reports, where she made significant contributions, starting in product testing and eventually managing content for their websites.
Beyond her professional achievements, Diane was a woman of many talents and passions. She was an exceptional cook, known for her ability to create delicious meals that brought family and friends together. Her love for puzzles was evident in her weekly ritual of completing the Sunday New York Times crossword in pen, a testament to her sharp mind and love for challenges. Diane had a green thumb and filled her apartment with plants and flowers, which thrived under her care. She found joy and relaxation in knitting, creating beautiful pieces that were cherished by those who received them. Above all else was her love for cats, something she passed on to her sons and grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Diane's commitment to her community was unwavering. For over 25 years, she selflessly volunteered as an EMT with the Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance, embodying the spirit of service and compassion. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and guidance. She was an active member of the Westchester Reform Temple, where she found a supportive community and a place to express her spirituality. Her involvement in the temple was a testament to her deep-rooted values and her desire to contribute to the well-being of others.
To honor Diane’s life and legacy, A service will be held at Westchester Reform Temple on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM, followed by the interment at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, New Jersey. Diane will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the profound impact she had on the lives of those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
