Violet Gebhard Richardson

Services for Violet (Vi) Richardson will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday April 24, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bossier City. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday April 23, 2012 at Hill Crest Funeral Home.

Ms. Richardson was born December 7, 1923 in Verdon, NE and died Friday April 20, 2012 at home surrounded by her family after a long illness. She was a resident of Haughton and Bossier City. Ms. Richardson received a full academic scholarship after graduating from Verdon High School. She has been a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she served on the Alter Guild and was a member of the Lutherans Women League. Ms. Richardson was a longtime employee of L. J. Earnest Construction Company and a member of Women in Construction. She had served as a volunteer at Providence House and other charitable organizations in the area. Ms. Richardson also served as a kindergarten teacher in Vidalia, LA for many years and worked for T L James Construction Company.

She had a generous and self-sacrificing charitable spirit that she shared without hesitation. She instilled a faith in the Lord and provided endless love to all her family.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 49 years Jake Richardson, son Doug Richardson, sister, Bernice Anderson, and brother David Gebhard. Survivors include daughter Lisa Grubbs of Benton; son Steve Richardson and wife Tracy of Bossier City; grandchildren are Cameron Richardson, Stephanie Richardson, Jake Richardson, Chase Richardson, Dusty Grubbs, Daniel Grubbs, and Wade Grubbs; sister Norma Wintz of Falls City, NE; brother Harold Gebhard of Naxie, MO.

Pallbearers will be Cameron Richardson, Jake Richardson, Chase Richardson, Dusty Grubbs, Daniel Grubbs, Wade Grubbs and honorary pallbearer Stephanie Richardson and Robby Grubbs.

The family would also like to thank Ms. Debra Pitts for her dedicated care and kindness to Ms. Richardson.
