BOSSIER CITY LA – Celebration of Life Services for Ricky J. Melancon, 47, will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Craig Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.
Ricky was born March 25, 1966 in Lafayette, Louisiana to the parents of Clifton J. and Shirley Melancon and passed away suddenly in Bossier City, Louisiana. He joined the United States Air Force in December 1985, and retired at Barksdale Air Force Base in September 2011. While serving his country in Security Forces with the Air Force, he went to combat in Desert Storm, and the War on Terror. While serving in the Air Force he gave back to the community by working for local police departments. He served as a Deputy Sheriff in Ward County, North Dakota, and Auxiliary Police Office in Jacksonville Arkansas. When he got to Louisiana he continued his police work as Reserve Police Officer with Bossier City Police. After retirement he became a Patrolman with the Benton Police Department.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton J. Melancon; uncles Preston and Steve Melancon; his grandfather and his wife, Henri and Matilda Melancon; and his grandmother and her husband Lena and Stephen Barras. Left to cherish his wonderful memory are: wife, Tulin Unver Melancon; mother, Shirley Babin Melancon; brother, Clint Melancon and wife Kim; sister, Roxanne Lavernge and husband Kevin; uncle, Steve Barras and his wife Christy and countless other family, friends and colleagues.
