Mary Juanita Hill Knowles Simons

Funeral services for Mary Juanita Hill Knowles Simons, of Bossier City, LA will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, LA. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Dietzel officiating. Interment will follow immediately. Pallbearers will be Mel Phillips, Carroll Traylor, Bob Dehner, Ron Payne, Tom White and Robert White.

Mrs. Simons was born April 4, 1919 in New London, AR and passed away November 26, 2013. She retired from AT&T in Shreveport. She was a dedicated mother, a member of Airline Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery. Later she became a regular attendee and member of the Parker Class at First United Methodist Church of Bossier City with her son and his family. She volunteered as a pink lady at Bossier General Hospital, where she served as treasurer for several years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially at holidays.

She was preceded in death by her husbands J. T. Knowles and John E. Simons; her parents, Jett Asbury Hill and Sallie; her sister Gertude Hill Russell, her brother, Oscar Hill; her son, Jimmie Knowles; her grandson, Troy Knowles.

Mrs. Simons is survived by one son, Thomas Knowles and wife Suellyn; four granddaughters, Vickie Carpenter, Tracy Caver, Nita VanTil and Gaylyn Knowles, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
