Mary "Louise" Wynne Dodson, 83, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2023 after a 2 year battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. She was born in Walkerville, AR on October 25, 1939 to Melvin and Odessa Wynne. Her family relocated from Arkansas to the Springhill/Shongaloo, Louisiana area where her father began a long farming career. She grew up helping on the farm and loved telling her family about picking cotton, vegetables and riding her horse. After graduation from Springhill High School she moved to Shreveport to attend business school. She met her future husband, Bobby Ray Dodson at Caney Lake and they settled in the Haughton area with their four daughters. She enjoyed volunteering at Bossier Academy where the girls attended school and Love Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member until it closed its doors earlier this year. After their divorce, she went to work at Schumpert Medical Center. After her retirement from Schumpert, she enjoyed volunteering at ACTION, a local food pantry and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Odessa Cason Wynne, brother, Charles Melvin Wynne, nephew, Nathan Clements, great granddaughter, Anastacia Faith Walls and great grandson, Lucas Nash Hudson.
She is survived by her four daughters: Kristi Walls (David), Stacey Shumate (David), Kim White and Stephanie Bridges (Tom). Grandchildren: Joshua Hudson, Ashley Bridges Freeland (Eric), Brittney Walls Lambert (Robert), Amanda Dodson, Erica White Morales (Nikki), Jon David Walls, Rebecca Shumate, Rachel Shumate, Jeanna White Hodge (Lee) and Jennifer Bridges. Great grandchildren: Aiden Hudson, Jaiden Walls, Liam Hudson, Sloane Hodge, Libby Walls, Olivia Hodge and Ranger Lambert. She is also survived by her sister, Melba Jean Miller and her daughters Sheree Phelps and Suzanne White.
A celebration of life will be held for Ms. Dodson at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Kelly Berne officiating. Interment will follow at Western Cemetery in Columbia County, Arkansas. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be David Walls, David Shumate, Tom Bridges, Josh Hudson, Jon David Walls, Robert Lambert and Lee Hodge.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kirtan Koticha and his wonderful staff for caring for her for so many years during her struggle with her blood disorder and then her lymphoma. Thank you also to Grace Home Hospice and her wonderful tech Brittany who cared for her so graciously. Our Mom was a generous soul and loved with her whole heart. Some of her favorite charities were Susan G. Komen (she was a breast cancer survivor), Ainsley's Angels of NWLA and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
