Lessie D Pinkney was born to Ruby Earl & Lee Bertha Patterson in Shreveport, Louisiana on August 24, 1948. She entered the world as the 3rd edition of siblings that became 3 boys and 3 girls. Lessie married Lamont Tellis, Sr. on January 29, 1967 and their union produced 3 beautiful children; Stephanie Larie Tellis of Portland, Oregon, Lamont Tellis, Jr. & spouse LaShawna of Irving Texas and Bertha Annise Tellis of Portland, Oregon.
Lessie was a true jack of all trades. She dazzled the world as a Majorette at Carver High school in Shreveport, Louisiana and went on to graduate with the distinction of Cum Laude from Southern University in 1968. She received her degree in communications at Southern University and then continued her education receiving several certifications for carpentry, plumbing, painting, writing, and sewing. If anyone could do it all…it would be Lessie.
She was always a strong, sweet, loving, patient, and charismatic woman. Not a single weapon formed against her prospered. As she often said “I’ll bump and I’ll stump, but I won’t fall down!” Lessie always believed in God but began dedicating her life to Christ many years ago and would often profess her unwavering faith in his goodness and mercy. Even with all of her many health challenges; she continuously professed that “God is good!” Lessie was a true overcomer and an inspiring testimony that life begins and ends in God’s time.
Lessie had a special relationship with her “Pooh Bear” oldest niece/daughter Sherrie Lynn Jefferson of Shreveport, Louisiana that will be cherished for the rest of Lynn-a-Boo’s life. Lessie truly loved her family with all her heart, and made sure she reminded them every chance she got.
Lessie is preceded in death by her parents; Ruby Earl & Lee Bertha Patterson and her eldest brother; John Willis Patterson. Lessie has left a beautiful legacy of Brothers; Arthur Patterson & Spouse Denise of Las Vegas Nevada, Ruby Earl Patterson, Jr. of Marshall, Texas; Sisters; Barbara Holmes, Rachel Brown & Spouse Frank of Shreveport, Louisiana, Children, 11 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, lifelong friends and extended family to share her beautiful memory of love and strength.
