Services to celebrate the life of Kenneth Lane Plummer, 62, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at First United Methodist Church in Bossier City, officiated by Rev. Mark Goins and Pastor Larry W. Dean. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive guests on Tuesday evening, August 16, 2022, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.
Kenneth was born in Shreveport, LA on December 10, 1959 and passed away at his family home in Bossier City, LA, on August 7, 2022. He was a lifetime resident of South Bossier, a 1978 graduate of Parkway High School and went on to obtain an Associates Degree from Bossier Parish Community College. Kenneth retired from Wal Mart after twenty plus years as a Loss Prevention Investigator. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting in Bienville Parish and Del Rio, Texas. Kenneth was an early and 42 year member, of the Big Foot Hunting Club, establishing himself as an integral component of its growth. He was a Board member of the Cyber Innovation Center, a Master Mason and member of Martin McClanahan Lodge #384, a 32nd degree Mason with the Scottish Rite, a member of El Karubah Shrine Center and a passionate supporter of the Shriners Hospital in Shreveport.
Kenneth was a true caretaker, always putting others ahead of himself, always ready to lend a hand, often without being asked. He cared for his neighbors, who referred to him as their “Guardian Angel”, his family, friends and his beloved pets. Since his passing, the family has heard the following words to describe Ken: put family first, patriotic, traditional, reliable, dependable, nostalgic, meticulous, diligent, focused, honorable, fiercely loyal, HUGE soft heart, THE “go-to” guy for everyone and everything, humble and anonymous. Ken was a beloved brother, uncle, friend and he will be deeply missed.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James B. Plummer, Jr.; his brother, James B. Plummer, III, and his beloved pets, Shadow and Dosie. Left to cherish and honor his memory is his fiance’, Jo Campbell; brother Paul M. “Mac” Plummer and wife Janet; sister-in-law, Diane Plummer; nieces, Jayme Plummer, Sarah Plummer, Allison Nutt and husband Leo, and Elizbeth Finley and husband Steven; nephew, James B. Plummer, IV; a total of five great-nieces and nephews and his Goddaughter, Kacie Franklin Miller.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Franklin, Daniel Haugen, Billy “Bubba” Barefield, John Thomson, Ethan Wood, Seth Russell, Lynn Arnold, Trey Lindsey and Louie Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Nance, Joe Buffington and James B. Plummer, III.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Shreveport, or to a charity of their choice.
