He was born on August 14, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan. After high school, John enlisted into the Air Force and was stationed in Blytheville, Arkansas. He met the love of his life at the Tall Club on November 1969 and then they were married in Las Vegas on February 26th, 1970, after 3 months of dating.
After being honorably discharged, after 6 years of service, he started out sweeping floors at a local grocery store and JCPenney, getting paid 10 cents an hour. Shortly after, he started a 48 year long career with General Motors, in 1960 at the plant in South Gate, California and then eventually to the Shreveport, Louisiana plant in 1983, where he retired.
John and his family always had a love for birds, along with classic cars, The Beach Boys, and of course football.
He was preceded in death by his parents. John Emmanuel Lindholm and Tyra Astrid Feltmarch Lindholm.
John is survived by his wife, Shirley Kibby Lindholm; daughter, Kerstin McDowell and husband Jim; son, Scott Lindholm and wife Michelle; 7 grandchildren, Kelly, Nathaniel and Christopher Ballard, James and Joseph McDowell and Liliana and Myles Lindholm; and 4 great-grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held to celebrate John's life beginning at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Haughton United Methodist Church. A Memorial Service will follow with Pastor Rene Moradel officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
