Jason was born in Marksville, Louisiana to Fredrick and Emma Desselle on October 1, 1928. Born in the middle of his 8 siblings, Jason aspired to see beyond his small south Louisiana town and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on February 17, 1948. While in the Air Force he worked as a Medical Lab Specialist and honorably served until his retirement as a TSgt on September 1, 1968.
During his time in the military, Jason was stationed in various places across the world, but the most special place was Landsberg am Lech, Germany, where he met his wife of 64 years, Maria Theresa Volk. They were married December 19, 1951 and together raised two children, Carol and Glen. After his retirement, Jason had a rewarding, 23 year, civilian career as a Medical Technologist at Willis Knighton Hospital North.
Jason was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was the center of his family that he loved so much. Among other loves, Jason could often be found at the Horseshoe Casino Poker Room, which many considered his third career. He also loved thoroughbred racing and spent some of his retirement years owning and betting on horses. Jason was quite the character and had the best sense of humor. Anyone that met him, loved him instantly.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Maria; parents, Fredrick and Emma Desselle; siblings, Holland Desselle, Elmo Desselle, Willard Desselle, Florence Bernard, Ida Blanchard, Emmaline Beauclair, and Lilly Desselle.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Carol Lloyd; son, Glen Desselle (wife Patsy); brother, Samuel Desselle (wife Nettie); grandchildren, Shannon Ryan (husband Mike), Jason Lloyd (Myra), Stephen Desselle, Allison Couvillon (husband Stephen) and great-granddaughter, Tayla Wiberg-Lloyd.
The family would like to acknowledge and appreciate the care the staff at Bloom Senior Living, Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home, and Point of Grace gave to Jason for the last 6 years.
Honoring Jason as pallbearers will be the Military, Stephen Desselle, Mike Ryan, and Stephen Couvillon.
Visitation will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Services celebrating his life will begin at 10:00 am with Msgr. Earl Provenza officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
