On Monday, May 29th Hazel Morgan went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Hazel lived a healthy, blessed life until complications from dementia gradually stole her “outer joy.”
Hazel was born June 2, 1929 in Ringgold, Louisiana and moved to Vivian at the age of fourteen. She was the sixth of seven children born to Isaac Earold and Mary Avie Giddens. Her parents; in-laws and siblings preceded her in death, along with her beloved husband Hugh C. Morgan. What a glorious reunion those two had when she arrived at Heaven’s gate!
Hazel’s contagious smile will be greatly missed by her sons; Barry (Mary), Alan (Debbie), and Mark (Deniece), daughter Cindy Morgan (David) Harrell and her cherished grandchildren; Beau (Allison) Morgan, Blane (Mandy) Morgan, Brooke (Jamal) Haywood, Sarah (Devin) O’Bryan, David (Alice) Morgan, Mindy (Caleb) Crouch, Michelle (Matt) Ellis, Whitney Harrell, and Austin Harrell. Granny was also dearly loved by her thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Sisters- in –law, Sue Giddens, Martha Jane Burkett, Mildred Yates, Jo Jennings and brother-in-law Dewey Morgan also survive her.
Mom loved being with her family, reading, working puzzles, and was an active member of First Baptist Bossier since she and Dad joined the church in 1949. She faithfully taught four-year old Sunday school for 28 ½ years until she retired from her job at Sears. In her retirement years she enjoyed traveling with friends and spending time with the Senior Adult group at church.
A memorial service celebrating our unselfish mother, faithful servant, and prayer warrior will be held on Sunday, June 4th at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Bossier - Faith Chapel. Rev. Caleb Crouch and Rev. Harrell Shelton will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Haughton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of the donor’s choice.
