Eileen married Dale Clyde Campbell (died 14 December 1972) and later married Robert Earl Way on February 5, 1977 until his passing in 2015.
She is survived by daughters, Deanna Rae Campbell Russell (Verl) and Susan Lee Campbell Leighton (William); three granddaughters, Kimberly Reitz (Tim), Lisa Elliott (Robert), and Teresa Eileen Vit (Dallas); one grandson, Corey Stewart (Silandia); and seven great-grandchildren, Taylor Reitz, Karlie Toney (Bryson), Emily Elliott, Logan Jones, Lucas Stewart, Sterling and Ansley Vit. She is also survived by her step-children, Susen Renee Way and Stanley Robert Way (Jane).
Eileen loved nothing better than traveling with her husband Dale and their daughters. Dale’s service in the military took them from Bayonne, New Jersey, back to Nebraska, on to Florida and Morocco and to Louisiana where the family took root. They once again decided to explore the globe and lived in Saudi Arabia for two years after Dale’s retirement from the Air Force. Along the way, Eileen gave generously to whatever community she called home. She served as a Gray Lady with the American Red Cross, a troop leader, cookie chairman and neighborhood chairman with the Girl Scouts of America and as an active member of the Bossier City AARP Chapter. Eileen had a love of language and was a Scrabble player few wished to challenge without a good dictionary in hand. She and Robert loved watching Jeopardy and she usually knew 95% of the answers. She was a talented artist sharing her sketching skills with her family and the staff and residents of Brookdale Assisted Living where she lived after Robert’s passing. Eileen could often be found creating beautiful quilts and garments and teaching her daughters and granddaughters the art of sewing.
Eileen was generous of time and spirit. Her loss will be felt by many but her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
Services celebrating Eileen’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
