Dealie Orlena May Dennis joined her heavenly family on December 29, 2022. Dealie was born September 26, 1926 in Forest, Mississippi as the sixth of ten children to Ezra and Lula May. They lived on a large working farm where everyone was given chores. One of Dealie’s was milking cows before she left for school each morning. Dealie enjoyed school and was known as a very good basketball player at Good Hope School. She was on the “road team”.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her nine siblings. Surely, there is a May family reunion taking place in heaven! They were all good storytellers and loved to laugh and try to out-tell each other.
Also preceding her in death was her husband of 53 years, Harvey Edward Dennis, and her only son, Harvey Edward Dennis, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters Orlena Dennis McKenzie (Lawrence S. “Buster”) and Regina Dennis Martin (Tony); and daughter-in-law Cathy Thomas Dennis (Harvey).
Dealie leaves four grandchildren and six great grandchildren: Jonathan Dennis (Kim (Charles Edward)), Christie Dennis; Stephen Dennis (Emily (Everette, Collier and Laurel)); and Dena Martin Koury (Quentin (Malaki and Mia)).
She liked to try new recipes, sew, crochet and play cards and dominoes with friends. Dealie played to win!
The family would like to offer a very special thank you to Dr. James Jackson and his staff for the care they have given Dealie throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Dealie’s memory to Airline Baptist Church, Bossier City, LA, or Beulah Land Baptist Church, Haughton, LA, or to a charity of your choice.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Hillcrest Memorial, Haughton, LA. Visitation at 10:00 AM followed by the service at 11:00 AM and internment.
