Celebration of life service for Daniel Wooten, 76, of Bossier City will be held at Bellaire Baptist Church in Bossier City on Saturday, December 18th at 10AM. Dr. Randy Harper will be officiating the service. Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home from 5-8PM on Friday, December 17th. Interment will be at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Mr. Wooten was a member, Sunday School teacher, and Deacon at Bellaire Baptist Church in Bossier City.
Pallbearers will be Paul Smith, Danny Stutzman, Scott Wolverton, Blake Wooten, Jason Wooten, and Tyler Wooten. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Bellaire Baptist Church.
Mr. Wooten, known to many affectionately as “D-Daddy”, was born in Lincoln County, Mississippi on March 25th, 1934. He died December 14th, 2010 after a lengthy illness. He was a U.S. Navy serviceman and enjoyed a long and successful career as an oil and gas consultant. After working at Halliburton for 20 years, Mr. Wooten owned and operated Wooten Petroleum Consultants, Inc. After retirement he devoted his life to the hospital ministry where he spent countless hours caring and praying for those in need. He was loved by many, both young and old, and touched every life he came in contact with. He will be sadly missed by many friends and family and by his lovely wife Joyce Evelyn Walker Wooten to whom he was married for 59 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Zollie and Ida Wooten of Brookhaven, Mississippi and his brother Paul Wooten of Craig, Colorado.
He is survived by his beautiful wife Joyce, sisters Mary Moak of Melbourne, Florida and Juanita Davis of Diana, Texas, son Steve Wooten and wife Ann of Haughton, daughter Vicki L. Dodd of Bossier City, son Kerry Wooten and wife Lisa of Monroe, son Brian K. Wooten and wife Caprice of Bossier City, grandchildren Danny Stutzman, Stephanie Wooten Atkins, Jason Wooten, Melissa Wooten Richardson, Valerie Wooten, Kerrah Wooten, Blake Wooten, Tyler Wooten, and Hannah Wooten. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Mason, Michael, Brandon, Caleb, Bucky, Kade, Elijah, Kash, and Halle.
The family wishes to express great gratitude to those who have been there and continue to be in support and love of the Wooten family. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Bellaire Baptist Church general building fund.
