Christine Hickman Bates

Celebration of Life services for Christine Hickman Bates, 74, will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, November 10, 2013, in the sanctuary of Foster Arbor Assembly of God, Castor, LA, with Pastor Greg Patten and Bro. B.R. Lofton officiating. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home, Haughton, Louisiana.

Christine was born April 9, 1939, in Bienville Parish to the late Prentice A. and Lola Foster Hickman and was taken from this earth November 7, 2013, in Shreveport, LA, surrounded by family. Christine always took great pride in spending quality time with her cherished family and friends. One of her favorite past-times was fishing the country creek beds for brim with a cane pole. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; Wiseman Bates, four brothers: Ravis, Olan, Joe and Fred Hickman. Left to cherish the most precious memories of Christine Hickman Bates will be one son; Keith Bates and wife Shelia, one daughter; Kay James and husband Carlton, four grandchildren: Heith Bates, Carla Thrash, Hannah Taylor, and Chrissy James, three great-grandchildren: Thad and Colin Bates and Kynnedi Taylor along with numerous extended family members and many wonderful friends.

Honoring Christine as pallbearers will be Heith Bates, Brian Taylor, Mike Thrash, Clayton Hester, Kelly Hickman, Garry Hickman and Elbert Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Thad Bates and Colin Bates.
