He was a graduate of Bossier High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his service, he attended University of Texas where he received an Architectural Degree in 1957. After graduating, he moved back to Bossier City where he was employed by Tom Meridith as an architect. Then in 1973, he and Alan Kelly formed Kelly and Doughty Architects. He was a member of First Baptist Bossier. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Patricia Jones Doughty; parents, Loyce and Alma Doughty and siblings Loyce Doughty Jr., Milton Doughty, Harold Doughty and Joyce D Byrum. He is survived by siblings Wayne Doughty, Loretta D. Smith and Ann D. Ritchie.
He is also survived by two daughters Nora D. McTague of Calgary, Canada, Carolyn D. Schwartz and husband Bill of Bossier City; two sons Charles ‘Eddie’ Doughty and wife Milly of Houston, TX; Steven D. Doughty and wife Barbara of McMinnville, Oregon; and a step-daughter Laundi Hanson Williams and Stephen of Choudrant, LA.
He was a devoted grandfather to Jamie Delafield and wife Kelly of Houston, TX; Michael Doughty of Houston, TX, and Kathryn Doughty of Houston, TX. Audrey Schmolke and husband Erick of Baton Rouge; Lindsey Garrett; Megan Pulley and husband Thomas of Benton. Patrick Doughty and wife Diana Perez-Doughty of Altamonte Springs, FL; Samantha Doerge and husband Arild of Carlton, Oregon. Cade Williams of Choudrant and Reagan Williams of Choudrant, as well as 9 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Christus Hospice and Cypress Point Nursing Home for the special care given to our father.
