Wilma Mae (Washington) Temple

Wilma Mae Washington Temple, 71, of Harrisonburg passed away on October 11, 2022. She was born in Harrisonburg and was the daughter of the late Winston Ward and Helen M. Whitelow Washington. Wilma graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1969. She was a member of First Baptist Church and attended John Wesley United Methodist Church. She had been employed as a CNA and worked at Graham Packaging. She lived in Harrisonburg for most of her life and in Trenton, New Jersey for twelve years. During her lifetime, Wilma was an exceptional caregiver to her family and friends. She was a lover of all animals especially her dog Muffin. She had an adventurous personality, her smile lit up the room when she entered and she was not afraid to live her life to the fullest. She is survived by a son, Andrew Travis Temple of Harrisonburg; a sister, Phyllis Johnson (Carl) of Trenton, NJ; a brother, Alan “Marc” Shifflett, Sr. (Pat) of Brookeville, MD; two nephews, Carl Johnson, Jr. and Alan Shifflett, Jr. (Ashley); one niece, Ashley Shifflett; great nephews, Ryan Johnson, Aidan Shifflett and Alan A. Shifflett; a great niece, Alana Shifflett; and a host of cousins and extended family members. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 11 am, at Newtown Cemetery with Pastor Costella Forney officiating. There will not be a visitation and the casket will be closed.
