Joyce Higgs Hodges

She was born in Harrisonburg, on November 28, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Leonard Higgs and Helen Taylor Phillips.

On September 8, 1951 she married Francis Asbury Hodges, of Fredericksburg, who survives. They were married for 62 years.

She is also survived by a son, Wayne C. Hodges of Manassas; a daughter, Debra H. Strong of Fredericksburg; a granddaughter, Lisa Gardner of Arlington and a grandson, Brian Strong of Fredericksburg; brothers, Richard K. Higgs (Fay) of Keezletown, Dale Phillips (Mary) of Mt. Crawford, sisters, Betty J. Foley of Bridgewater, and Kitty Poteat (Eddie) of Bowie, MD.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Smith and a brother, Thomas Quantrille.

The family will receive friends 6-8:00 pm, Sunday, July 6, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A graveside service at Keezeltown Cemetery will be held 11:00 am, Monday, July 7, with Rev. Clarence Moyers officiating.
