Roberta Ann "Berts" Bair, age 81, of Lower Allen Township, passed away April 4, 2025 in Camp Hill. She was born November 15, 1943 in Harrisburg, daughter of the late William N and Elderine R (Wolfe) Witman. She was the widow of Clayton W. Bair, Jr and of the Protestant faith.
Berts was a '61 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, past State President of Grand of PA Cootiettes, had held all offices of Jubilee Cootiette Club #604 of Camp Hill and the Central Pennsylvania Corvette Club, and for years along with her husband "Sonny" had been a Flea Marketeer at Silver Springs Flea Market, Carter Building and had a stand in the rear building of the Broad Street Market, Harrisburg, featuring housewares.
Jobs were held at several places that are no more. Sky Bros, Inc in Lemoyne (bookkeeper/on the road sales rep); Kinney Shoes office in Shiremanstown; Fleet Material Support Offices (FMSO) in Mechanicsburg; and Naval Supply Depot, from which she went out on maternity leave and never looked back. She spent a couple of years as a Home Party rep for Rubbermaid, Inc until they shut down. That led to Flea Marketing and some part time jobs. For years she and Bair delivered phone books for Ma Bell and Donnelly. When Twin Ponds on the West Shore was being finished, she was in the snack bar. Yeah, she was the one that couldn't make 2 sundaes look alike. After Bair retired from LCB, they got a part-time job at Keystone Auto Auction in Dauphin and spent several years driving vehicles some could only dream about driving. After Bair passed in '02, daughter Amie hired her part time at Smoker's Express, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle, and finally ended up at the New Cumberland store. She left there to "babysit" first Samantha Ann and 2 years later Joshua David (the loves of her life).
Berts leaves behind daughter Amie R (David), Camp Hill; brother Norman E Witman (Janice), Harrisburg; her grandkids Sam and Josh; many nieces, nephews, cousins and her companion John B Merris.
