Matthew is survived by his wife, Lisa (Sansalone) and daughter Samantha Delaney of Willow Grove, PA; parents, John & Diane (Fauzio) of Harrisburg, PA; sister, Kelley, wife of Ryan Shambaugh and their children Kayden & Kinsley of Camp Hill, PA; in-laws, Karen, Louis (Terri); Lisa’s siblings, Jaime (Keith) and their children & Robert; grandmother-in-law, Dorothy. Matthew is also survived by a host of beloved cousins, aunts, and uncles. He is predeceased by his maternal & paternal grandparents.
Born in Camp Hill, PA, Matthew attended Holy Name of Jesus School, Bishop McDevitt High School (class of 2003), and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Criminal Justice from West Chester University (class of 2007). Matthew spent the last ten years working in the Insurance field as a Claims Adjustor, working for companies such as: Progressive Insurance, Nationwide Insurance, and most recently, Caliber Collision. Matthew enjoyed the social aspect of the job and being able to help people.
Anyone who knew Matthew, knew he was a caring, kind, and a fun-loving person. He had a passion for his family & friends, sports, working out, Nickelback, and most importantly Notre Dame football. It was a family tradition, passed down by his grandfather. Matthew took many trips to Notre Dame over the years and you could always find him watching the game on Saturdays in Fall.
Matthew was an active participant in the Boy Scout troop 360 where he earned his Eagle Scout, the highest achievement award in the Boy Scouts of America. Matthew also participated in the marching & concert band at Bishop McDevitt High School and was one of the Founding Fathers of their lacrosse club team. During his college years, Matthew spent a month in Fort Knox, KY as a member of the ROTC and completed an internship with the Norristown PA Police Department. He was a member of the Zeta Sigma chapter of Beta Theta Pi fraternity where he was the Social Chair leader. He had a lifelong bond with his brothers and shared many special memories over the years.
Matthew and his wife Lisa recently celebrated their five-year wedding anniversary. Matthew was a loving & caring father, and was excitedly anticipating the arrival of another baby girl in October 2021. Matthew was known by his nieces and nephews as, “Uncle Matt” and shared a special bond with them.
Matthew recently completed his first season as a volunteer Head coach for the Upper Moreland Lacrosse Club. Matthew loved being a coach and was looking forward to doing so for many years to come. As a first-time coach, Matthew’s main priority was fun first, and winning later. Matthew was often complimented on how much fun he made the game and a lot of his players were looking forward to playing again for, “Coach Matt”.
Matt left a huge impact on many people's lives over the years and will be greatly missed.
Services: Memorial visitation will be on dates: Wednesday, June 30th, starting at 6 p.m. and Thursday, July 1st, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 6150 Allentown Boulevard, Harrisburg, PA 17112. Following the mass, a burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 116 South Oak Grove Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial college fund has been set up for Matthew’s children. Donations can be made to Lisa Delaney, in trust for his children.
